5-12-94 MAGIK
Magik is a simple dialer program, which keeps a compact database of
the numbers. Magik has the following fields (in this order): Code (you give
this to identify the entry), phone-number, date, contact name, company
name, street address, city, state, zip, note 1, note 2. Each line may be
up to 40 characters (including note 1,2). There is a 5000 char limit, so
you can have up to 400 separate entries. (if you need more, I suggest you
copy M.FLS to say MM.FLS and have a MMM.FLS to copy back to M.FLS).
When you load MAGIK it tests the modem to see the highest speed that
MAGIK and the modem will 'talk' and be reliable.
This is the main screen.

<R>edial will let you dial up to 5 numbers until one connects. You
will be beeped on the computer when you get the other end ringing, so you
can pick up your phone. When you pick up the phone, tap a key to hangup the
modem. After finished with the call, you must re-do your dial list. If
there is an incoming call, you will also be notified. After an incoming
call you can continue when done without re-entering numbers. When using
<M>odify, press [Enter] to accept a line unchanged, retype the line to
change it. ***** NOTE: When you are modifying it now shows FEILD names as
well as the old entry.
The other commands are self evident. The area code MUST be entered
when entering ALL phone numbers including local ones. The format for
entering area codes is '1xxx' not '1-xxx'. So I use '1617'. Long distant
codes are done the same way.

In this menu you can dial a new phone number. While you are on the
phone, you can fill in the fields you need to save for this entry. When
done, <F>inish will save the completed entry. If you forget to enter an
<E>ntry code, it will ask for one. The <G> will let you set in 10ths of a
second the delay between redials. You can make it smaller, until you get
'RINGING' when you still hear BUSY on the modem. Then increase <G> until
this doesn't happen. <G> is not Saved, and must be set each time you use
this screen.

Pick up to 3 fields : field x or command >>>
On this menu you can list to screen or printer, all entries which
match the fields you select. (they must be an exact match, so if doing
states for example, be consistent either all MA or all MASS). All entries
are converted to UPPERCASE, so they will match either lower/uppercase or
mixed. You may select up to 3 fields to sort out information.
